Jimmy’s Harborside opens.

Operated by Jimmy Doulos (Demetrios Efstratios Christodoulos), the restaurant is located at 242 Northern Avenue on the site of his former Liberty Cafe (est. on Commonwealth Pier in 1924 and moved to Northern Ave. in 1929). It becomes the first restaurant in the nation to offer profit-sharing to its employees. After Doulos’ death in 1981, it is run by his grandchildren Jimmy, Kim and Reni, and closes on December 31, 2005, to make way for development of a new restaurant building that opens in 2011.*
